MDG Lead — Manager
Domain: Material Master (MDG-M)
Role Description
Serve as the technical lead for SAP MDG Material Master production support, providing hands-on technical expertise for complex incidents, problem management, enhancements, and stabilization. The Manager will lead root-cause analysis, guide the MDG development team, and coordinate with functional, ABAP, integration, Basis, and S/4HANA teams to ensure timely resolution of production issues.
Key Responsibilities
Lead technical support and troubleshooting for SAP MDG Material Master.
Own complex production incidents, problem management, and root-cause analysis.
Troubleshoot MDG Change Requests, workflows, activation, validations/derivations, and replication issues.
Provide technical leadership for MDG enhancements and production fixes.
Work with MDG data models, BAdIs/enhancements, BRF+, workflow, and DRF.
Debug MDG/ABAP issues and coordinate with dedicated ABAP resources where deeper development support is required.
Analyze replication and integration failures between MDG, S/4HANA, and downstream systems.
Review technical solutions, code/configuration changes, and deployment plans.
Lead technical impact assessments and ensure appropriate testing and production validation.
Drive permanent fixes for recurring incidents and identify opportunities to improve application stability.
Coordinate with business, functional, Basis, integration, and managed-services teams.
Provide technical leadership during critical/P1-P2 production incidents.
Mentor and guide Senior Associate-level MDG developers.
Required Skills
Strong hands-on SAP MDG experience with Material Master / MDG-M.
Strong understanding of MDG data models and Change Request framework.
BRF+, workflow, validations, and derivations.
BAdIs and SAP enhancement framework.
DRF and master-data replication.
ABAP debugging and technical troubleshooting.
S/4HANA and Material Master integration knowledge.
Strong production-support, incident-management, and RCA experience.
Ability to lead complex technical issues across multiple SAP teams.
