Cafe Assistant

Responsibilities

- Greet customers warmly, take food and beverage orders accurately, and provide recommendations

- Prepare and serve a variety of hot and cold beverages, including espresso-based drinks, teas, and smoothies

- Prepare simple food items such as pastries, sandwiches, and salads following health and safety guidelines

- Operate the point-of-sale (POS) system to process customer transactions and handle cash accurately

- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the cafe, including dining areas, service counters, and equipment

- Restock inventory and supplies as needed, ensuring products are readily available

- Assist with opening and closing duties, including cleaning, sanitizing, and preparing for the next shift

- Address customer inquiries and resolve minor complaints promptly and professionally Requirements

- Proven experience in a customer service role, preferably within a cafe or hospitality environment

- Basic math skills and experience with cash handling and POS systems

- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a friendly and approachable demeanor

- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards of quality and hygiene

- Physical ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 25 pounds, and perform repetitive tasks

- Flexibility to work various shifts, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays Qualifications

- High school diploma or equivalent

- Food Handler's Permit or ability to obtain one upon hire

- A positive attitude and a strong work ethic

- Reliability and punctuality

- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently
